The LCISD Food Services Department is looking forward to another great school year! We want to make you aware of this year’s meal prices (unchanged from last year), the process for qualifying your child for free or reduced-price meals, and our new meal account platform which will require parents to complete a new registration before depositing meal funds.
We also want to notify parents of elementary students that, this year, New Hope Academy, East Elementary, North Elementary, and South Elementary qualify for a federal program called Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), and all students at these three campuses will receive free breakfast and lunch meals, regardless of financial condition. No action is required for students to receive free meals at these campuses. Students at Central Elementary, West Elementary, Laura Bush Middle School, Lubbock-Cooper Middle School, Lubbock-Cooper High School, and Liberty High School will be required to pay for meals or complete the National School Lunch Program application to receive free or reduced-price meals. (More information below.)

There is a possibility that your child enrolled at Lubbock-Cooper High School, Liberty High School, Laura Bush Middle School, Lubbock-Cooper Middle School, Central Elementary, or West Elementary may qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). To find out if the children in your household are eligible for free or reduced-price meals, simply complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals online or via paper form. REMINDER: A new application must be submitted each school year in order for students to continue receiving free or reduced-price meals. If your child qualified for free or reduced-price meals last school year, please complete a new application for this school year.
Here is some important information about applying for free and reduced-price meals:
Any family can apply. There is no penalty for families who apply and do not qualify.
Families who have not qualified in the past may qualify this year, as income eligibility qualifications have been adjusted.
The application and free or reduced-price meal status are completely confidential. Teachers, administrators, and fellow students do not have access to this information and will have no way of knowing throughout the school year which children qualify for free and reduced-price meals.
Children who qualify for free or reduced-price meals have the same food options as children who do not qualify. There are no “special lunch lines” or different menu items for qualifying students.
Qualifying for free and reduced-price meals may provide access to many additional benefits, including:
Reduced registration fees for AP, SAT, and/or ACT tests
Free or discounted participation fees for activities
Discounted rates associated with college applications
Discounted rates on internet services
