State law requires each school to provide a minimum of 75,600 instructional minutes in a school year. When any type of delay or cancellation is necessary, the lost minutes must be recovered. LCISD elementary schools, middle schools, and New Hope Academy have "banked" extra instructional minutes throughout the school year, so no make-up time will be required for those campuses for the cancellation on Wednesday, February 5.
Lubbock-Cooper High School will make up lost instructional minutes by attending school for the full day instead of having a late start on the following STAAR testing days: April 7, April 8, May 5, May 6, and May 7. This means that these STAAR testing days will be regular school days. (These dates will replace the originally scheduled Monday, May 18 make-up day, and students who are not taking a final exam will not be required to attend school on that date.) The two scheduled weather days on Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13 will not be affected.
